19 November 2022 - To the Costa Blanca

Miles driven today = 110

Total Miles to date = 3,482

We would have liked to have stayed another night at Casa Los Lobos.  A Dutch guy we were talking to this morning has been there a month.  He obviously enjoys Mimi's cooking and it's steak night tonight but we have to press on.

We meandered our way up towards Lorca.  It's a big agricultural area round there with oranges, almonds and olives forming the main crops as far as we could see.

We joined the motorway again at Lorca and immediately dived through a tunnel dug directly beneath the town's impressive looking castle.  Then we followed the broad and fertile flood plains eastward past Murcia whilst always under the brooding gaze of the surrounding Sierras.

On past Elche, we reacquainted ourselves with our old friend the N340 coastal road, which brought us into Urbanova, a resort of mid rise apartment blocks some 5 miles to the South of Alicante.

We are parked up with at least 30 other motorhomes in a free beach car park.  It seems that overnighting is tolerated here provided no "camping behaviour" is exhibited, which I understand to mean having nothing on the ground except your wheels.  Even levelling ramps seem to be frowned upon so we are having to put up with being slightly nose down for tonight.

We are right on the beach though and can clearly see Alicante around the bay to the north.

In the other direction are a few bars and restaurants which seemed to be doing a fairly decent weekend lunchtime trade when we strolled past.

And beyond that is a nudist beach, which lies directly under the flight path into Alicante Airport.  We can hear the planes taking off and landing but the noise has been largely drowned out by the strong & gusty wind we've had here today, but which thankfully seems to be subsiding now that the sun has set.
