25 February 2024 – Oranges & Laundry

A very short update this evening!
This morning we drove all the way from one side of Mount Vesuvius to the other and are now parked up among the orange trees in Camping Zeus, which is right next door to the main entrance to the Pompeii excavations. We’ve booked ourselves in here for 2 nights and will probably stay for 3 in order to give ourselves time to explore the ruins and also possibly hop on a train for a quick ride around the Bay to Sorrento.
But for today we have had to content ourselves with monopolising the campsite’s laundry facilities in order to wash and dry more than 2 weeks’ worth of clothes and a full set of towels and bedding. We used our awning pole to hook down one of the oranges overhanging our pitch and it was disappointingly sour and have spent the rest of the afternoon sitting around in our camping chairs and enjoying the sunshine.
Apart from that all I really have to report is that we did indeed buy a bottle of wine produced by the AgriCamping place we stayed at last night and it’s got the thumbs up from both of us.
