28 October 2022 - Down by the riverside
Miles driven today = 85
Total Miles to date = 2,800
With our watches going forwards again, for a few days at least, the sun didn't really get his hat on until sometime around 8:30 this morning, so we were equally tardy in arising from our slumbers.
We prepped the van and found our way onto the A49 towards Seville. Google Maps told me that I was to turn right in 107 kilometres so I flicked on the cruise control and we sat back to enjoy the ride. There was some nice enough scenery at times but we also passed vast acreages of polytunnels which were no doubt producing cheap tomatoes for Tescos.
Rather than fight our way into the city we headed for an aire next to the marina in the southern suburb of Gelves. It's only a 20 minutes bus ride into the centre of Seville from here, which doesn't seem remotely possible given how quiet and peaceful it is. The only noises we can hear are the odd screech from the herons, which regularly commute up and down the river, and some low level chatter from the pizzeria on the other side of the marina. We were very lucky to grab what I believe was the last available riverside spot and at least 2 motorhomes have been turned around since we got here. It's €15 per night without hook up (plus another €3 if we had wanted leccy, but we don't).I havent seen a Mini Moke for years. I used to have a Dinky Toy one when I was a kid. It looks like somebody is using this as a runaround and towed it in a trailer behind their motorhome all the way from the UK.Temperatures have been in the high 20s again today so we have made use of the marina's laundry facilities for our fortnightly bedding and towels wash while we sat in the shade of the van and depleted the beer locker. We will go exploring Seville tomorrow but for now its been amazing how much entertainment one can glean from watching a lizard climb a palm tree.
