8 April 2024 – Busy Doing Nothing

We’ve had very few days on this trip where we have just kicked back and relaxed. Certainly not enough from Lisa’s point of view.  So it was lovely waking up in idyllic surroundings, with no noise other than the birdsong and the lap of the waves and knowing that other than a bit more laundry we had nothing pressing on our agenda for the day.

Once we had crammed another two machines full we could enjoy our morning coffee while we looked out from our clifftop balcony.  Then having pegged that all on the line we just sat around and enjoyed the sunshine.  Lisa is already very proud of the “stripy feet” she has from her sandal tan line.

We did go for a short stroll after lunch.  The site has what appears to be a villa of some description at the top of the hill with nicely planted gardens, so we wandered up there for a bit of a snoop around and to enjoy the views of the bay from a different angle.

Then we walked from one end of the beach to the other without another soul to be seen.  Half of the 8 other vans who were here last night moved on this morning and for most of the day we were in glorious isolation with our nearest neighbour at least 100 metres away.  Another couple of vans have arrived later this afternoon but still keeping a respectable distance.

The only blip on an otherwise perfect day is the water pump packed up this evening, half way through doing the teatime dishes.  I tried changing the fuse and it’s not that so I can only assume the pump has failed again.  We’ve only had this one for a little over a year but I do have a spare.  The light was already starting to fade when it happened and I wasn’t going to go clambering around in the confined space of the garage with a head torch, so I’ll have to get busy with it before we leave in the morning and hope that the issue isn’t anything more serious.
