Isle of Mull - May 2022

Before we head off on our European adventures we took the opportunity to get to know our new motorhome by embarking on a trip up to the Isle of Mull.  We took a leisurely 2 days to get from our home in Suffolk up to the ferry at Oban and then had a wonderful week on the island staying at 4 different campsites as well as in a restaurant car park.

On the way home we took in 2 of our favourite music festivals; Knockengorroch in the Galloway Hills and Bearded Theory in Derbyshire, spending a couple of nights in between at Gretna on the Scottish border.

Here is a brief pictorial summary of our time on the island.

Leaving Oban.

Our first stop on Mull was Garmony Point.

We had a wander round the main town of Tobermory, including a visit to the the distillery.

We got our electric bikes out and did a hilly 24 mile round trip to Calgary Bay.

On the way back we stopped off at the Calgary Art in Nature Trail

We drove 70 miles the following day on roads barely wider than the van.

We stopped off at the Eos Fors Falls.  That's the island of Ulva in the background.

We had a wet day exploring the island of Iona.  This was taken approaching on the ferry from Fionnphort.
