Today has been predominantly spent at our place up here in West Yorkshire discussing extension progress with our builder and kitchen designer. The waterproof membrane was going on the roof this afternoon so we really feel now that tangible progress is being made and structurally the builders will be finished in a couple of weeks ready for first fitting of plumbing and electrics. Exciting stuff and it will certainly be looking very different the next time we are here.
We moved the van up from Cragg Vale to the tiny "Certified Location" at Little Nook Farm. There are only 5 pitches, 3 on gravel and 2 on reinforced grass. There is one loo and a shower but I think we will probably stick to using our onboard facilities. Even so, it's pretty decent value at £20 a night.
We can actually see our house from here!
This gives me a quick chance to show off what a fabulous place we are lucky enough to be able to call home up here. Within 10 minutes of stepping out of our front door we can be up on the open moor.
We have cracking views over the Upper Calder Valley. Hebden Bridge, with all its quirky cultural charm, is tucked away down in the valley bottom and you can see the quaint village of Heptonstall on the hillside to the right with its steep cobbled streets. Todmorden is a further 4 miles up the valley.
Our local, The Hare & Hounds has arguably the best view of any pub around these parts from its beer garden. Unfortunately they are closed on a Monday these days, although the weather has been pretty hit and miss today so I doubt we would have been sitting outside even if they were open.
So that's pretty much it for this excursion. We'll take the tried and tested route of M62, A1, A14 back down to Suffolk in the morning. The forecast is for gusty winds and heavy rain but we're not in any hurry. It's been a great trip!
